TranslationBestowal of the ten sacred treasures
The kami of Takamanohara brought forth ten sacred treasures and bestowed them upon Amateru Kuniteru Hiko Ama no Hoakari Kushitama Nigihayahi no Mikoto, giving the following instruction.
Descend to the earth with these treasures and bring peace and order to its people. When illness afflicts a person or any living thing, place the sacred treasures upon the mikuraita, perform the rite that settles the spirit, and wave the treasures.
Then recite the ten heavenly stems, the numbers from one through ten, the jewel sound, and the divine words “Furube yura yura.” The tradition declares that when one prays in this way, even one who has died may return to life.
Editorial note
This is a narrative and devotional claim preserved in the text; it is not a guarantee of medical revival or treatment.
Nigihayahi no Mikoto received the command of the heavenly kami, descended in the Ama no Iwafune to Mount Ikoma in Kawachi, later moved to the high court of Shiraniwa in Yamato, and was enshrined and praised as Isonokami Ōkami.
Through the generations, the sacred treasures and the divine words of Furube were administered for the people, and the kami was revered as Furu no Mitama no Kami. Imperial princes, Ōmuraji, and ministers also honored that divine authority and served in its rites.
The foundational treasures transmitted by the Mononobe shrine are enumerated: two mirrors, one sword, four jewels, and three hire—ten sacred treasures in all.
Because the ten kami and the divine words are reverently offered, may the prayer be heard in peace; may life be long, descendants prosper, and protection and well-being endure as firm and everlasting rock.
