On this life-giving and fulfilled day, the Governor of Izumo speaks with reverence. For the long continuance of the reign, sanctuaries are prepared within the green mountain enclosure of Izumo. Beginning with Kushimikenu no Mikoto, the great kami of Kumano, and Ōnamochi no Mikoto, maker of the land, the kami of the one hundred and eighty-six shrines are served with purified vestments and seclusion. At sunrise, this sacred word of blessing is presented as the report of that service.

When Takamimusubi no Mikoto entrusted the realm to the Sovereign Grandchild, Ame no Hihi no Mikoto, ancestral kami of the Izumo officials, surveyed it and reported that its kami and natural powers were turbulent and spoke aloud. He pledged that it would be quieted for peaceful rule, then sent his child Ame no Hinatori no Mikoto together with Futsunushi no Mikoto to reconcile the turbulent kami and obtain the land-making great kami’s assent.

Ōnamochi no Mikoto declared Yamato to be the land where the Sovereign Grandchild would dwell. He entrusted his gentle spirit to the Yata mirror under the name Yamato no Ōmononushi Kushimikata no Mikoto and placed it at the sacred place of Ōmiwa. The spirits of Ajisukitakahikone no Mikoto, Kotoshironushi no Mikoto, and Kayanarumi no Mikoto were likewise placed at their sacred sites as nearby guardians, while Ōnamochi remained at the sanctuary of Kizuki.
The ancestral kami charged Ame no Hihi no Mikoto to bless the Emperor’s reign so that it would remain firm, everlasting, and flourishing. In obedience to that charge, service is performed, and at sunrise sacred treasures are presented as gifts of both kami and subject for the blessing of the reign.

White, red, and blue jewels, the imperial sword, a white horse, and further ritual treasures embody renewed vitality, firmness, and protection. They are raised as signs that the Emperor may govern the realm in peace together with heaven, earth, sun, and moon. With reverence, the succeeding heavenly words of blessing are proclaimed.
Editorial note
The long sequence of images and wordplay surrounding the treasures allows more than one interpretation. This rendering conveys their shared ritual functions without fixing every phrase to a single meaning.
The offerings carried in purification by the Imibe, with a broad sash across the shoulder, are to be received by the priests and ritual attendants and presented without error.
