TranslationOffering the sacred food

Includes interpretation

Before the kami, we purify the abundant ears of autumn rice, cook and prepare the sacred food, and present it upon oak leaves. With the sound of resounding ritual claps, may the kami calmly and peacefully receive this honored meal.

Editorial note

The 1891 source titles the text Shinku Norito; a later public transcription calls the same text Shinsen Norito. The rendering does not treat “eight” in the old ritual expressions as a fixed modern instruction.
